1. Pricing

Pricing is quoted on a ‘per day’ basis (24 hour period).

Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Waiver (or Theft Protection) herein called CDW and TW (TP) respectively, is cover limiting the customer's liability for damage to or theft of the rental vehicle. The level of liability is the amount known as the insurance excess which can differ depending upon the type of vehicle, method of payment and customer’s age.

CDW and TP will not apply if the terms of the rental have been broken.

In case you book multi-pricing packages with differing inclusions and deposit/excess amounts. The exact details of each package will be available at the quotation / booking stage and on the rental voucher. The hirer is responsible to check their package inclusions before booking.

 2. Requirements to Hire

Driver License Requirements

All hirers must be in possession of a valid, original driving licence including the photo ID.
Driving licenses must be held for a minimum of 1-2 years, depending on age of the driver.  (Please see Driver Age Requirements)
Driving licences must be in English, Latin or Roman alphabet.
International Driving licences are required when a driving license is not in English, Latin or Roman alphabet.

The hirer is solely responsible to ensure that their license is valid for use in the respective country and to determine whether an International Driving Permit is required by local law. For driving licenses from countries not part of the international driving license treaty, an official translation of the license must also be presented with the original license. When renting within Greece, customers from non-EU countries must also present an International Driving Permit along with their domestic license.

 Failure to provide a valid licence and IDP permit (as required) will result in a non-refundable termination of the reservation at the rental counter.

In the event that the hirer arrives at the rental desk without the necessary documentation, the booking will be cancelled. In these cases, there will be no refund.

You may be denied rental for reasons including, but not limited to the following:

- Previous driving disqualifications

- Pending prosecution or police enquiry

- Convictions for offences relating to theft, fraud or dishonesty

- Involved in an at-fault accident within the last 5 years

- Involved in more than 1 accident in the last 3 years

- Defective vision

Forms of Identification
Valid photo ID (passport or national ID).

Accepted Methods of Payments and Preauthorisation of Deposits

Accepted cards stated above must be in the main driver’s name with sufficient funds available to cover the excess liability. Failure to provide a valid card may result in the booking being cancelled and no funds for the prepaid amount reimbursed.

In the event that the original booking was paid for utilising a third party credit or debit card, hirers may be required to present details, permissions and authorisation relating to the transaction. Failure to provide the information requested may result in the hire being refused.

Driver Age Requirements

The minimum age allowed for a driver is 21 years with the young driver surcharge (YDS) and 23 or 25 without it, regarding the car group. The maximum age is 74 without a surcharge, drivers who are 74+ will be subject to the senior driver’s surcharge.

One year of minimum driving experience is required for all groups. For premium or luxury cars and vans two years of experience are required.

-For vehicle groups A1, A, B, C the minimum age is 23 or 21 with YDS (9.92 EUR VAT included)[Division A]
-For vehicle groups A4, CD, D, F1, F2, F4, F, FC the minimum age is 23 or 21 with YDS (9.92 EUR VAT included) [Division B]

-For vehicle groups DG,D3,E1,ED,FG,FP,J1,JH,JD,L,LD,M1,N1,N7,M7,MC,P,PA,PW,Q1,QA,R, RA,RD, VR, VL the minimum age is 25 or 23 with YDS (14.88 EUR VAT included) or 21 with YDS PLUS (22.32 EUR VAT Included). [Division C: Premium]
For vehicle groups E4, N3, LA, LM, SM,  the minimum age is 25 or 23 with YDS (19.84 EUR VAT included) [Division D - Luxury Division]

Standard YDS is for cars from divisions A and B (for groups with minimum requirement 23 years). The standard YDS cost is (9.92€) per day per driver and the standard SDS is (9.92€). For premium cars (Division C) the standard YDS per day is increased by 50% (14.88€) and for Luxury car (Division D) by 100% (19.84€) The SDS cost per day for the above groups is equal with the YDS charge.

YDS PLUS (on request): For customers aged less than 23 years old who want to drive a special car like those from Division C the YDS PLUS may be available on request (please ask local office before booking). The cost of YDS PLUS is 50% higher than YDS for the same group. Furthermore for luxury cars, two years minimum driving experience is required.
I.e. YDS PLUS for group Q1 (Nissan Qashqai or similar) from Division C is 14.88*1.50=22.32€ per day VAT Included and for group N3 (Audi A3 Auto Convertible) from Division D is 19.84*1.50=29.76€ VAT included
YDS/SDS is not included in the rental price. It is paid in the local currency at the rental desk.

* When the correct age of the hirer is entered when requesting a quote from the Green Motion website, the Young Driver Surcharge and Senior Driver Surcharge is included in the rate provided.

Voucher
A printed or electronic copy of your voucher must be produced upon arrival at the rental desk. Failure to present the voucher means the car rental agent may charge you at the local rates - the car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle, in which case no prepaid funds will be reimbursed.

3. Deposits, Excess and Additional Cover

Insurance Coverage

Green Motion offers 4 different packages with varying levels of protection / coverage. The Basic package is the cheapest, but has the highest Damage and Theft excess amounts, with the Premium Plus being the most expensive to purchase, but comes with 0 excess and a very low security deposit. Theft excess is never removed.

We will require a security deposit to be preauthorised on the credit card of the main driver. A pre-authorisation is the method by which a deposit amount is ringfenced rather than transacted as a sale. The monies must be available in the account but will not leave it. The amount will not be available to the account holder until released by their bank. The period until the funds are released may take up to 14 working days and can be longer depending on the type of card and country of issue. 

For rental durations that exceed 11 days, the rental company may deduct the excess from your credit card instead of pre-authorise, as a pre-authorisation only lasts for a certain amount of time before expiring.

For groups A4, CD E1, ED, F1, F2 F, FC, DG, FG ,F4, FP, J1, JD, JH, M1, M7, MC, N1, N3, N7, PA, PW, R, RD, L, LA, LD, LM, SM, VK, VL, VR, Q, QA the excess amount will be deducted from your credit card instead of pre-authorised. Car rental company will not be responsible for any returned check(s) or insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.

For luxury car groups, two credit cards are required for preauthorisation.

Damage Waiver Products

The packages above are available to purchase in addition to any of the pricing packages detailed above, or in addition to bookings placed via third party websites. Depending on the packages purchased, you may still be held responsible for damage to or loss of tires, windscreens, glass, mirrors, wheels, locks, roof and undercarriage, along with towing charges. Please check details with the car rental agent on arrival.

Other exceptions include accidents caused by off road driving, refueling errors or other damages caused intentionally or by negligence. No insurance covers damages caused as a result of infringement of Road Code Circulation or breach of the Rental Agreement’s Terms and Conditions. The Accident Statement/Report should always be supplemented so that the insurances' covers will be in effect.

Liability Insurance

• Maximum of approx. EUR 1,220,000.00 for personal injury (except the driver of the Green Motion vehicle, when using the Green Motion vehicle).
• Maximum of approx. EUR 1,220,000.00 for property.
• Liability insurance included in all rates.

The local office may provide you the option for Reduced Damage Waiver that reduces your excess amount and SCDW (Super CDW-removed excess) which removes your excess amount.

If a hired car is involved in an accident and the vehicle “rolls over” onto the roof, you may be asked an additional fee on top of the excess. Moreover things as towing charges, extra equipment purchased locally and personal belongings.

Super CDW (removed-excess) and GTR are not available for some specific groups.

Reduced Damage Waiver (RDW): Reduces the damage excess to a lower amount. RDW does not cover any damage to the interior or underside and roof of the rental vehicle, tyre and wheel damage, broken or lost keys and locks or contamination of fuel.

Super Collision Damage Waiver:  The Super Collision Damage Waiver Package removes the excess to 0 and the deposit to a lower amount. Mechanical parts are not covered.
 

Full Damage Waiver consists of SCDW (removed excess) and GTR. Mechanical parts are never covered.

Super CDW (removed-excess) and GTR are not available for some specific groups.

If you purchase the Excess Reimbursement Policy from a third party, the credit card holder, who is the main driver will be required to present his / her credit card at the rental desk in order for the car rental agent to authorise the deposit.

US Source Rates

USA sourced rates are prices obtained only when browsing from a USA IP address. Rate structures in the USA differ from other continents in that they are not packages and usually exclude any insurance or taxation. 

Where a customer books a vehicle using US source rates the rate will exclude any form of CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) or TP (Theft Protection) limit on liability. 

Both CDW and TP will be available to purchase at the rental counter. Clients will sign to agree unlimited liability. The responsibility to ensure that this cover exists will be solely with the driver. Excesses and pre-authorisations will be as follows:

*Premium fleet cars will normally include brands such as Mercedes; Audi; BMW; etc. This list is not exhaustive.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): CDW is not included in the rate for US source reservations and can be purchased at the rental station. CDW limits the driver’s liability in the event that the rental car is damaged, subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Rather than the full cost of the value of the vehicle, the driver is generally only responsible for the first portion, known as their ‘excess’.  This protection applies to all authorised drivers of the rental car.  CDW normally does not include glass, roof, tires, wheels and the underneath of the vehicle.  

4. Extra Services

All optional extras can be subject to price changes without notice; additionally, optional extras are subject to availability.

Additional Driver: 5 EUR per day.

Roadside assistance: 5 EUR per day.

Booster: 5 EUR per day. Maximum of 86.80 EUR per rental

Baby seat/Infant seat: 5 EUR per day. Maximum of 86.80 EUR per rental

Snow chains: 10 EUR per day. Maximum of 124 EUR per rental

Sat. Navigator/GPS: 7 EUR per day. Maximum of 124 EUR per rental.

All drivers need to present and show the driving license at the pick up of the car.

Customer should return the extras rented locally in the same condition. Loss or damage of the equipment is not covered by any insurance.

The use of rear facing infant seat for babies under 12 months old, baby seat for children under 5 years old and baby seat or booster for children under or up to 6 years old is mandatory by law.

Installation of Baby / Child Seats / Snow Chains
Responsibility for the installation of child/ baby seats and snow chains rests with the hirer and will not be done by Green Motion employees. This is due to liability in case of inappropriate installation.

Cross Border Travel
Border crossing is not permitted. Renters are required to stay within Greece for the full duration of their rental.

Delivery/ Collection Service
A delivery and collection service may be available within normal opening hours. Charges will apply. Please contact the location for details.

Out of Hours Collection and Drop Off
Out of Hours reservations from 21.01 until 23.59 and 06.01 until 07.59 will incur a cost of 25 EUR. Out of Hours reservations from 00.00 until 06.00 will incur a cost of 40 EUR. Late notice of less than 24h before the pick up or drop off (Out Of Hours) will incur a cost of 40 EUR regardless the requested time. This is a non-refundable charge. Grace time during OOH is 1 hour.

One Way Hire
Not all Green Motion locations offer one-way rentals. Where offered, an additional fee will be charged.

When entering your pick up point on the website, it will automatically display all available drop off locations and the prices shown will be inclusive of the one way surcharge. The website will only display available one way locations. If your desired drop off location is not displaying on the website, this option is not available and is not permitted.

5. Policies

Vehicle Group/Model
Green Motion vehicles are classified into groups. The group is indicated on the top right of the vehicle image and the description at the top left.  

Reservations are confirmed for a group and not a particular model unless shown otherwise. Green Motion is unable to guarantee a particular make/model or fuel type unless a guaranteed model group has been booked. The vehicle shown on any documentation is for guidance only and may be substituted with an alternative, similar or upgraded vehicle at our discretion.

Model groups described as "or similar" are not guaranteed. Model groups described as "make / model guaranteed" are guaranteed model groups.

Vehicle Condition

Vehicles must be returned to the location/drop off point in the same condition as when it was picked up/delivered. It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the vehicle is thoroughly checked prior to taking custody of the vehicle.
Whilst in charge of the vehicle the hirer accepts responsibility for maintaining the roadworthiness of the vehicle and agrees to take remedial action to avoid unnecessary cost/damage. This will include maintaining oil levels, tire pressures and other common sense actions to maintain the vehicle. Costs will generally be covered only if it is authorised in advance from the rental branch.
The hirer must return the vehicle in a clean condition (normal wear and tear excepted). If the vehicle is exceptionally dirty upon return or if there is damage to the seats, seat upholstery or the carpets, an additional charge for deep cleaning will apply. This charge will be dependent upon the actual state of the vehicle when returned.
Any damage caused to the vehicle, if returned out of hours, is the responsibility of the hirer until the rental agents have checked in the vehicle.

In keeping with industry standards and association guidelines, short term vehicle rental does not have a margin of fair wear and tear for damage. A short term rental is any hire for which the duration is less than 90 consecutive days. Any change to the condition of the vehicle during the rental will be the responsibility of the customer.

Accidents

In case of an accident or other incident, the renter should immediately inform the car rental company. If there is a third party involved, the renter should also call the Police. Renter should bring a Police report to the local office if there is damage or a missing / stolen car part.  The Police report should be completed and sent to local office up to 24 hours after the accident/incident. The car rental would replace the damaged car within 24h depending on the availability and the distance from the closest station.
If an accident occurred, regardless of fault, the local office will charge immobilization fee, car replacement fee, loss of use, administration fee and / or towing and transfer of the vehicle. The above charges may exceed the corresponding CDW excess amount and are not refundable.
Failure to report accidents truthfully and in keeping with the rental terms and conditions will result in risk reduction packages being null and void. Failure to cooperate or providing false information in connection with a claim will result in the driver being liable for all claims costs.

Immobilization / Loss of Use Fees

Immobilization fees will be charged if a fault with a car was caused by the customer’s negligence and not due to break down of the rented car.  In addition, customers will also be charged for the length of time the vehicle is off road and remains out of service while the vehicle is in repair.

Damage Estimation Policy

Most locations use an authorized system called DAT Hellas for the production of the damage estimation of a vehicle.

Fuel Policy
Green Motion operates a like for like Fuel Policy; hirers are requested to return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as was supplied at the time of collection. Missing fuel will be charged per litre (daily rate) and an additional charge of 14.88 EUR (Refuelling Fee). No refund to customers who return the vehicle with more fuel than expected.

You may be required to leave a fuel deposit reserved on your credit card which will be released when you return the car with same amount of fuel. Missing fuel will be charged on your return. The price per litre charged by the rental agent may be significantly higher than the price at the local service station.

Mileage Policy 
Basic – Limited to 150km per day

Plus – Limited to 250km per day

Premium – Unlimited km per day

Premium Plus – Unlimited km per day

If the hirer exceeds the kilometre allowance for their rental, a fee of 0.20 EUR  + VAT per kilometre will be charged.

In the event the multi products are not offered, the standard product will offer unlimited mileage within in Greece for rentals that exceed 3 days.

Smoking Policy

A strict non smoking policy is in place for all vehicles.  If you have smoked or allowed smoking within the vehicle, charges will apply.  This includes allowing cigarette (or cigar) smoke or ash into the vehicle, which would imply the above.  Charges are detailed in the damage matrix available at the rental counter.

Valeting/Animals in Vehicles

No animals should be transported in our vehicle unless contained. A valeting fee may be applied to rectify any soiling due to animal transportation. Charges are detailed in the damage matrix available at the rental counter.

In the event that a vehicle is returned in an unclean condition (internally or externally) and requires more than our standard clean, a valeting charge will apply. Hazardous or excessive soiling requiring specialist cleaning will be charged according to the nature of the specialist required.  

Delayed Collections/ No show policy
Reservations will be held for 2 hours from the specified reservation time after which they will be classed as a no-show.  If the hirer arrives after this time or if the rental station closes in the interim, then a vehicle is not assured. 

If no flight number is provided then the reservations will be held for 2 hours or until the location closes whichever is first. Staff will not wait after closing time where no flight number is provided.

At downtown locations a reservation will be held for 2 hours or until closing time whichever is first. Staff will not wait after closing time.

Green Motion will do everything possible to provide a vehicle. This may include offering a different vehicle and rates may be different to the original booking. In the event of a no-show, the booking is non-refundable.

Grace period for late or early bookings (21:00 until 07:59) is 1 hour.

Flight numbers provided are for informational purposes only. It is the responsibility of the hirer to inform the location of any delays. Flight diversions will be treated as a No Show at the original location and a booking cannot be assumed to be transferred.
 
Ferry Use and Travel Restrictions

Vehicles are permitted on ferries only after written approval by Green Motion Greece. Use of ferry without notice is forbidden and is considered as negligent that voids any insurance. Customers should inform the local office about all the islands they intend to visit.

Ferry travel permission (FTR) can be obtained from the local office for 31 EUR per direction. Usually, the total charge for visiting an island is 62 EUR, except in the case of one way rentals. Unlimited ferry use is available for 155 EUR.
 
Ferry transfer is not permitted from islands of Rhodes, Kos and Samos. 

If the car breaks down or is involved in an accident on an island that is not mentioned in the rental agreement, Green Motion is not responsible to replace the car within the standard 24 hours. The customer remains fully responsible for the replacement and repair charges, along with transfer and towing expenses. The customer is obliged to return the car to the rental location at date and time in accordance with their rental agreement.

Even in cases where FTR is purchased, road assistance in some islands, especially where Green Motion Greece has no local offices, is not guaranteed.

Lost Keys

A charge will apply if keys are lost or damaged. Please note that if a vehicle is stolen and keys are not returned to the rental location, the hirer will be deemed negligent. Lost keys are deemed as negligence and are not covered under the insurance excess limitation or risk reduction packages. Hirers will be liable for all costs relating to recovery, loss of use and repair. This list is not exhaustive.

Rental Extensions

It may not always be possible for the hiring branch to extend the rental. If customers wish to extend their rental, they must notify the office in writing at least 24 hours before the rental is due to end. Where the branch agrees an extension, the rental will be charged at the prevailing rate which may be higher or lower than the original booking rate. 

Non-authorised rental extension
If the hirer fails to return the vehicle within the specified time, a penalty charge  will be applied and the hirer will be black listed (declined for future bookings).

Early Returns/Unused Rental Days
No refunds (partial or full) will be given for rentals ended early including the purchase of ancillary items, late collections, no shows or cancellations made after the rental start date.

Late Returns

A vehicle is hired for a contracted period as detailed on the rental agreement. The return day and time as selected by the hirer at the time of booking will be enforced regardless of delayed pickup time. After the grace period, Green Motion will class the booking as a late return and additional charges will be due.  The prevailing daily rate will apply and will include any billable optional extras such as baby seats, additional drivers or damage waivers.  The charge will be applied to the card used for security deposit at the start of the hire.
Grace period: 59 minutes

Returns/Parking Fee

All vehicles should be returned to the local office carpark or the location included in the rental agreement. Drop off at public parking, hotel, or other area without the written permission of the local office will incur a Parking Fee. The charge will be calculated as the Administration Fee (50 EUR)  plus the distance from the station (0.56 EUR/km). The renter will be responsible for any parking fines or other charges incurred by Police or the local authorities.  

Amendments
Reservation amendments must be requested in writing via email at least 48 hours prior to the start of your rental. Please note that telephone amendments will not be accepted. An amendment request is not assured and amendments may be treated as a new booking.

Fines, Penalties and Administration Charges

It is the responsibility of each hirer to cover the cost of any parking fines and traffic violations. When fines or traffic violations occur and a Green Motion location is involved in administering the charge, then a non-refundable administration fee of 50 EUR will be charged to the hirer.

Vehicle Trackers
Some of the vehicles contain tracking devices which will be used in accordance with our data protection policy.

Opening Hours

Most locations are open from 08.00-21.00.
The hirer is responsible to check the location’s operational hours, along with any national or public holiday closures.

Complaints
​ All complaints should be made in writing e-mail to customerservices@greenmotion.gr within 30 days from the last day of your rental. Whilst Green Motions does try to resolve all cases brought to our attention, those raised after this period may not be considered. If at any point during the investigation process communication ceases for a period of more than 30 days, the case will be considered closed and no further action will be taken.

6. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of your reservation should be made in writing at least 48h prior to the start of your rental , or cancelled through your account on the Green Motion website.  Please note that telephone cancellations will not be accepted.

7. Terms of Use

General Terms
All bookings are subject to our terms and conditions. Greek law applies to agreements made on the basis of the terms cited above. The VAT for most regions of Greece is 24%.
 
Green Motion Limited cannot accept liability for any charges incurred on documentation signed for and accepted locally.
 
Green Motion Limited will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing willful damage, off road driving or driving without due care and attention. The hirer will accept responsibility in respect of such claims. This list is not exclusive.

The vehicle should be used only by the renter or other additional drivers mentioned on the rental agreement. The vehicle is prohibited to be used, for infringement of provisions of the Greek Road Circulation Code, for purposes opposite to the Greek laws, for towing other vehicles, in order to transport heavy objects or baggage, flammable materials, or smelly objects, to be used outside asphalt road network, under the influence of alcohol, narcotic or toxic substances, for transportation via boats or cross border rentals without a prior written. This list is not exclusive. The customer will accept responsibility in respect of such claims.

In the case where a customer is found negligent Green Motion Greece and its locations reserve the right to pursue the customer for the recovery of all losses incurred.

Green Motion Greece makes all efforts to ensure that all information provided is correct at the time of booking. Furthermore, the customer by signing the rental agreement agrees to adhere to our conditions at the time of collection of the vehicle and for the duration of the rental. CDW and TW will not apply if the terms of the rental have been broken.
 
When comprehensive insurance is taken out it is to provide the hirer with entitlement to drive and covers the vehicle in the event of an accident. In the case where the hirer is found negligent Green Motion and its locations reserve the right to pursue the hirer for the recovery of all losses incurred.

Green Motion reserve the right to cancel a rental and refuse the service at any time.
